New Housing Policy issued by Government after 21 years

Pakistan has been suffering from a housing deficit for the past few years with some reports putting the housing shortage at 12 million. In light of this, the Ministry of Housing and Works has proposed a New Housing Policy 2025, which was drafted by the Policy and Planning Wing of the ministry. The draft policy will be presented to the Federal Cabinet soon for approval.
The first housing document was released by the government in 2001 but it is unclear how successful it was. Currently, Pakistan suffers from several housing challenges including illegal housing societies, housing shortage, urban sprawl, disorganized urban development etc. It is hoped that the New Housing Policy will not only provide solutions to these problems but also guide its implementation.
