Lahore-Sahiwal-Bahawalpur Motorway 1st Phase progressing

The first phase of the Lahore-Sahiwal-Bahawalpur Motorway is underway. This phase involves land acquisition between the Lahore Ring Road and Raiwind-Kasur Road. This phase will provide significant economic opportunities to South-East Punjab and will open up easier movement to the area.

Lahore-Sahiwal-Bahawalpur Motorway is a 295 km long highway that will connect the districts of Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Bahawalpur. It was formally approved last year and is aimed to provide greater access to South Punjab from North Punjab. South Punjab is economically underdeveloped and the highway is expected to generate significant opportunities for it. Some Rs. 264 billion for the project have already been allocated.
