Government cracks down on UAE Golden Visa holders

June 2025

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The Pakistani government has begun a crackdown on Pakistanis who have invested 2 million AED (approx. 155 million PKR, approx. $550,000) in real estate in United Arab Emirates (UAE). The government can do this by using immigration records of these people available with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

According to reports, many of these Pakistanis failed to declare their real estate holdings in UAE during their tax filings and failed to report any rental income or profit gains for these properties. They also did not clear their Capital Value Tax (CVT) that is applied on overseas holding.

Many of the Pakistanis being targeted possess the 10-year golden residency visa which is given to them on the basis of their investments.
